Our Mission
We exist to be a witness for Jesus Christ in the world. To help others see that God really has come to the world in Christ, that he loves all of us and desires a living relationship with everyone today. That said, our mission is very simple... to love like Jesus.
After Jesus Christ rose from the dead and gave many convincing proofs of His resurrection to more than 500 people, He said to his followers, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
While Jesus walked the earth, He made this statement to His followers; "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
We're convinced that Jesus Christ's church is called first and foremost to love people as He has, that they might be compelled to follow Him. From that attitude of love, we invite others to become disciples of His, so they can experience the life changing power of Christ for themselves.
Loving like Jesus isn't easy. In fact, it's really impossible for us on our own. But, Jesus promised that those who continue to trust and obey Him after His resurrection, would be filled with His Spirit and empowered to love as He did, in order to be witnesses for Him.
This kind of love overcomes evil with good, replaces fear with hope, anger with forgiveness, despair with joy and meaningless living with purpose and significance. It does not ignore sin and brokeness in the world. Rather it recognizes the need for God's overwhelming grace to overcome those things. Nor does it expect perfection. It is a love that calls people to rise above selfishness and unforgiveness and be progressively transformed by the love God in Christ.
This conviction inspires us to invest in the lives of people around us and around the world. We will proclaim the good news of God in Jesus Christ in all we say and do. We will care for poor, broken and hurting people as Jesus did. We will be a safe place for people exploring faith to ask questions, learn about Christ and experience the love of God in us. We will invite people, by the thousands, to come and see that the Lord is good.
We will develop a permanent meeting place in the Katy area for people to gather, dream, worship, learn, connect, care, and grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Together, we will change our corner of the world, for generations to come.
